garden bloggers rule!!!

well, it's been 4 days since the big garden blogger saturday and i have needed this time to let everything soak in. i'm sure i won't be able to adequately express what an amazing experience it was--writing is not my strong point. what an amazing group of people!! my only regret is that i didn't make it around to talk to every single person there. i did meet some wonderful people though who i think will be lifelong friends, hopefully. here are some pictures and i'll be posting more about the weekend later.
you can't go to austin in the spring and miss the bluebonnets!! so beautiful!

cactus in the ladybird johnson wildflower center--sorry, don't have the name of it.

I just love the blue in those bluebonnet photos. And the tangled looking blue-purple flower is our native spiderwort.

It was so great to meet you too, Laura. I've admired your paintings many a time, so it was wonderful to meet the person behind the art.

Hi Laura,

I'm so pleased to have finally met you. Now I can tell people that I actually know the artist of those lovely paintings hanging here in my home!

It was great to spend time with you.

Glad to see that you have cats also. Enjoyed meeting you. I will return later and look at your artwork.

Wow. How did you capture that BLUE? It's amazing. I had a ball riding around with you all day and I can't wait to go look at your art, now that I "know" the person behind the work. How's my twin??!!!

You gave that spiderwort a glamour photo, Laura - I've been thinking about adding it to my garden and this image pushed me over the edge.

It was a great weekend and I'm so happy to have met you in person. But the decibel level was sometimes painful in the restaurants - thank heavens so much of the Fling was outside!

I have the same problem with lots of my Spring Fling photos (e.g., "pink-flowered thingy"). What I do know is that the Cactus is some kind of Opuntia or Prickly Pear & that last thing is an allium of some sort. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Laura,

The Texas Bluebonnets are beautiful - I'd have loved seeing them. With so many gardens to tour, it's not surprising that some of the plant names were forgotten.
